My parents were children of the"Jim Crow" south, where African-Americans lived in constant fear of reprisals for speaking out against issues pertaining to equality. They were not afforded the opportunity to attain formal education as they had provided for myself and siblings.

Though they were not people who took pen to paper to document their story regarding their lives.  They collected items which embodied the story of the darkest periods in American history which affected African-Americans.  My parents told a story by using "chintzy" racist imagery and memorabilia they collected that coincided with racist and bigoted attitudes.

The dream my parents envisioned was to have their passion for collecting, preserving and to educate a way of telling their story, as they seen life through the lens of their eyes as African Americans in America.
